Kansas City Airport station is effected by several climate controls. The small scale micro climate controls are the heat island caused by the stations close proximity to Kansas City, the constant air travel of planes producing heat and particulate matter effect the recording station. other micro factors are the stations close proximity to Berlin Reservoir, and the station being near to the irrigation of the crop fields surrounding the airport. The larger scale meso climate controls, Kansas City is in the subtropical climate zone giving it warm summers, and cool winters. Kansas City, MO airport station is effected by cold Polar air masses and warm meritime tropical air masses, which effect the temp, precip. cause tornadoes, and other cyclonic activities. other meso climate controls are the low pressure cells from the Rocky mountains, and warm dry air from the sonoran desert.
For Kansas City Airport the the month with the lowest average temperature for both the min. and max. temperatures is the month of January, while the warmest month is July
Comparing the Station at Kansas City International Airport to L.A.X. the similarities between the two stations, both stations are in airports so the asphalt runways absorb more solar radiation than without. both stations are effected by urban heat islands with there close proximity to large urban areas, although L.A.X. is in a much larger heat island. Both areas have weather effected by the rocky mountains. The differences between the two stations is that L.A. is close to the Pacific ocean, because it is near the ocean the area experiences advection fog when the warm moist air from the ocean meats dry cool air on land. Also because of the ocean L.A.X. has less variation in the weather, and temperature seasonally, with the average temperature never dropping below 60 F, and the rainiest seasons at the L.A.X. station is January to March, while in Kansas it is in July and May. L.A.X does not experience mid-latitude cyclones.

Kansas City, Missouri is affected by both continental tropic and maritime tropic air masses in the summer, and continental polar and continental arctic air masses in the winter season, and in the fall and spring they all interact together which is why Kansas City has tornado seasons.
Kansas City experiences Mid-Latitude cyclones, it experiences Cold frontal system this area experiences comes from the cold air masses Continental Polar, and Continental arctic are masses, as well as the Aleutian low moving cold denser air forces warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico up and over, and if there is then rotation in-between the air masses there could be a tornado formed, if it makes contact with the surface.
The most unique factors for this area, are the high tornado, this is due to the Rocky Mountains, The way the Rocky Mountains formed causes a funnel for all the cold air up north near Canada south toward the Gulf of Mexico, Because the cold dry air is dense it is unable to lift over a topographic barrier, so it moves south hitting warm moist air masses. If the two air masses then start to rotate you can get tornadoes. 80% of the total tornadoes in the world happen in this area called Tornando Alley.

Kansas City Climate
Kansas City, Missouri's geographical location is a continental climate with 4 different seasons. Kansas City's relatively flat ground with the average elevation around 800 to 900 feet above sea level. It is on the great plains, with no topographic barriers or, large water bodies to affect the weather, and atmospheric conditions. the Bowen ratio for the International Airport area since it is in an arid environment would be 1.5:1.(2)
The station where the precipitation, the mean maximum, and the mean minimum temperatures where recorded was the Kansas City International Airport, this station has been recording these statistics since January 1, 1956. But the information I will be using is from December 1, 1984 to January 1, 2016
